In game 2 the Stamps faced the Eskimos who have been working very hard at tackling and the defensive side of the ball. The Eskimos are an offensive threat, defence been slower developing. On Saturday, however, their defense stepped up and were able to keep the Stamps passing game at bay. The Stamps opened the game with a long pass on the first play and scored on a 40 Aubertin to Crow pass and run connection to take a very early 6 – 0 lead. With less than a minute left in the 1st quarter the Eskimos completed a drive with Matt Mondoux putting out a terrific effort to score from 20 yards out. With Tim Schankula’s PAT kick the Eskimos took an 8 – 6 lead.
With 3 minutes left in the half Jeff Crowe took an outside run up the sideline and scored from 48 yards out. Following Jacob Aubertin’s PAT kick the Stamps found themselves in the lead again 14-8. The Eskimos didn’t go away however, as they continued to drive and found themselves on the 2 yard line with 3 seconds left in the half. They passed the ball to Austin Racine who scored a major. The teams went into half time tied at 14. The 3rd quarter was a defensive battle with Desmond Plumstead finally breaking away on the last play of the 3rd quarter to put the Eskimos up 20 – 14. The 4th quarter was a defensive battle to the end and the game ended in favour of the Eskimos as they earned their first win of the season. Great game played by all.
