Practice Sessions Bantam & JV

The North Bay Bulldogs staff are excited to say our summer season will be starting Saturday, April 2nd with some indoor sessions starting.  We will be at Canadore Gym on April 2, April 9, and April 16th from  Bantam 10-11:30 and JV – 11:30-1:00.

What you will need for indoor sessions is gym attire, water bottles, running shoes as well as a mask to be worn if social distancing can not be met.  There will be a place to refill water bottles at Canadore and we have access to both mens, womens, and all gender change rooms as well.

We will be having equipment hand out the weekend on the 23/24th more info on that once we have that organized. And hopefully, the snow is gone by then and we will give you the practice schedule.  Prior to our first game tentatively on the weekend of May 20th, there may be different practice times depending on field availability, but after that outdoor practices will be Wednesday, Thursday Friday 6-7:30.

We do not have a game schedule quite yet, but they have said it is getting close to being ready and I will get that to everyone as soon as I have it.

Game Day Information:

The cost for the game is $5 entry fee to help cover the costs of the field. This gets you to any home games that day, for example, if you pay $5 entry for the Bantam game, you can stay for JV, SV or mens games or all of them.

We are always looking for volunteers for games as well some are paid positions and some are truly volunteer.  Once we have the schedules of who is playing home we will start penciling people in for dates and games right now just trying to see who is interested in what so I can put you on the list.  So please respond with what you are interested in doing as well as the level (Bantam, JV, SV or Mens)

BBQ-We run a BBQ during the games serving hotdogs and hamburgers.  We usually get parents to bring desserts for the BBQ and we ask for a generous donation for the food.  We have suggested prices.  But we look for volunteers to work the BBQ usually 3-4 people.  Normally we suggest you do the game before or after your player’s game so you can enjoy your player’s game. But you can also volunteer during their game.  By volunteering at the BBQ you get in the game for free.

Trainers– we need one travel trainer to away games and two for home games.  We are responsible to provide a trainer to opposing teams while they are here.  Duties include attending to injuries on field, taping ankles prior to games.  First aid and cpr is a must, usually we have nurses, medics, psws etc.. do these jobs. We take $35 off player fees per game and entry to the game is also covered.  (If player fees are paid already we pay you out the $35.

Stick Crew-home games only We need three people to do sticks, students can earn volunteer hours for this job and get front row seats to the game.  We also pay $15 per game to cover the cost of food while working.  We need 3 people for every game.

Film-we are looking for one person for each team to do film and upload it to our platform for our viewing. Pay for this is $35 per game which can be used towards player fees or you can take as a pay.

Front Gate-We usually have 3-4 people working the gate, collecting the $5 entry fee, selling merch, selling 50/50 etc…  there is no pay for this job however you get to enjoy majority of the game and covers your entry fee.  Again you can volunteer for the game before or after your players as well.

Water crew-  We are always looking for someone to be in charge of water for game days.  Duties include filling the large water jugs and bringing by wagon (provided), running water out to the field for players during time outs etc… We need 2 people per team and the pay is $15 per person per game.  You get to be on the sidelines with the players.  No cost for entry to game

Announcers-We have a sound system with a microphone provided.  We are looking for 2 announcers per game $25 each.  Responsible to announce players from both teams if the coach wants it to be announced, play Oh Canada at the beginning of the game, thank our sponsors when gameplay is stopped.  Announce 50/50 winners.  You can do some play by pay but need to remain fairly impartial to both teams, no swearing, no comments to the refs etc…

Let us know if you can fill any of our volunteer spots.

Bulldog Football Scheduling a June Kick Off

The North Bay Bulldogs are excited to announce the progress of its 2021 non-contact summer football programs. Bantam and JV registrations are ahead of last year’s fall season’s pace with limited spots left.

The Bulldogs NFC edition will be coming together to work on the passing game and will be involved in NFC competitions vs other NFC teams where permitted by regional guidelines. In addition, the Bulldogs organization will be operating a local full spectrum of non-contact football divisions Sunday game action across the City.

This year the Bulldogs are operating 6 divisions with
TYKE (09, 10, 11),
BANTAM (07 & 08)
Jr. VARSITY (05 & 06)
Sr. Varsity (02, 03 & 04),
Open Adult and
brand new for this year an OPEN WOMEN’s Touch Football League

“We recognize there is an important need for our kids and adults alike to get out into the fresh air and get exercise. Our volunteers are shaking the cobwebs off the footballs and preparing for football in June!” said Bulldogs President Marc Mathon

The actions all starts 2nd week of June and spots are limited so it will be important to get registered before the spots fill up. In 2020, the Bulldogs operated a very successful non-contact football league in the Fall filling up 5 divisions in a very short 3 weeks. The 2020 Fall season comprised of 126 games in 6 weeks so executing a heavy schedule is nothing new for this club.

“We are excited to offer for the first time ever in North Bay an open Women’s touch division. We have room for 4 or 5 teams and 6 players. Women in football is expanding all over the world, including tackle and we really want to offer than here in North Bay.” Explained Mathon.

The action will start with training camp-style practices for the kids on June 8 while games for everyone will be starting June 12th and running through until August.

Registrations for the NFC team are being accepted for NFC non-contact action at the same time and NFC players will automatically eligible to play in the Sunday adult league as well.

“We do need people to help out, so if you are looking for something exciting to contribute to, there is no shortage of fun working with the Bulldogs family”, says Mathon.

Players and volunteers looking to join the Bulldogs are encouraged to please visit our website www.NorthBayBulldogs.com, visit North Bay Bulldogs on Facebook or call us at 705 498-5929

Players are encouraged to register now to reserve their jersey number.

2021 Summer Football

GREAT NEWS!! We are prepared to release the news that we will be operating Summer Football this year!

Please find attached a Draft of the 2021 Registration Form for Bulldogs Summer Football. The OPFL will be offering provincial competitive football where permitted by government restriction rules. All indicators from the gov’t signal that tackle football will not be permitted during the summer. So we will be operating a non-contact football program.

We propose to structure a dual-level touch football program this summer where we will operate a local summer touch football league on Sunday and Saturdays will be scheduled for our rep teams to compete against other centers in the OPFL whose health units permit visiting sports clubs to compete in their local fields and to visit North Bay.

We will provide at least 2 practices per week, with one at least reserved for the Club Rep teams to prepare for their Saturday OPFL matchups. Meanwhile, we will operate a city-wide touch football program on Sunday much like we did last fall.

We will offer this in all age groups except PeeWee and Tyke, but in the non-contact context this will provide a genuine opportunity for younger but athletically advanced kids to play at the Bantam level and develop their pass game skills, offensively and defensively.

Meanwhile, at the NFC level, we will be practicing twice per week and scheduling competition vs other NFC clubs in a touch home and home series format as we did last year, except in 2021 there are a number of other clubs very much interested in being involved. I will prepare an NFC registration form later this weekend and circulate it to the group of players with birth years of 2001 and older.

I genuinely believe that our efforts this summer & again in the fall will play a very important role in keeping our city’s kids out of trouble and focused on productive activities with positive goals to set.
