2018 Registration Open

Merry Christmas Bulldogs,

2018 will be an exciting year for the Bulldogs family as we are hard at work planning for another great fun year of football. We are pleased to announce that we have moved from the OVFL and will be competing in the OPFL AA division and will be facing our old adversaries such as TNT, Toronto Jets, and Orangeville among others.

For Christmas, we have released our early registration program to get as many players registered during this Christmas holiday season as we can.

We will be holding a draw for an authentic NFC jersey in January for early-bird registrations.

In order to qualify, you must submit the registration forms to the Club along with a $150 deposit.

**VERY IMPORTANT**

Getting your registrations in earliest will give you priority over your choice of available jersey numbers. Returning players within the team will get first rights to their jersey numbers, however, newly available jersey numbers will be handed out on a 1st come 1st serve basis based on registration & deposit date.

We have had many people asking us for registration forms so we will be getting a heavy run on registrations during this Christmas…so be sure to register early to ensure you get your choice of jersey number. DON’T WAIT!!! Register ASAP!

On another note….we are excited & looking forward to a positive fun & competitive football season in 2018…together.

Have a great Merry Christmas and don’t hesitate to contact any member of our executive.

Bulldogs Join the OPFL

The North Bay Bulldogs have joined the Ontario Provincial Football League (OPFL).

In a move discussed since last season based on parent, coach, and player feedback the Bulldog’s executive voted unanimously to move to the OPFL. The move comes on the heels of the Nipissing Wild ending as North Bay’s senior varsity division team.  With the rebuilding of our existing summer teams (Bantam, junior varsity, NFC) and the sudden formation of the Senior Varsity team, it compelled the decision to move to the AA tier of the OPFL.

The OPFL is an active league hosting two tiers and twenty teams. Visit the league’s website, twitter, or Facebook for more insight and information

“As a club, we value the opportunity to be part of a tiered league in which we can develop our coaches and players to elevate their play to the highest possible level” – Marc Mathon President of the North Bay Bulldogs.

Official Press Release.

This was not what we anticipated because the 2017 season ended with very positive progress following the forum style meeting with the Nipissing Wild leadership and local football supporters. The objective of the meeting was to generate ideas to work together in providing a positive football experience for local football players.

Following the forum, a small working committee made up of Wild and Bulldogs executive along with strong community football supporters met to put these ideas into action for 2018.

The news of the Nipissing Wild folding comes as a surprise to us. We know that the Wild have some very good people who worked hard to provide a place for kids to play football. These volunteers, like us and so many others in the community, do this work because of their passion for the game and to watch the kids develop.

Given these new developments, our group feels it is our duty to put forward whatever effort we can muster to provide a football program for all the players from the North Bay area who are looking forward to playing football in 2018. This past fall we provided coaching, administrative and equipment resources to the Chippewa Raiders for the sole purpose of helping the 30+ kids who desperately wanted to play football for their school.

The job of expanding to the Senior Varsity football level will be a very challenging project for the Bulldogs and we will need help from the community and football volunteers.

As expressed during our meetings with the Wild, working together would produce the best result. It is our hope that members of the Nipissing Wild will consider continuing to be involved in providing those players with a good football experience in 2018 and work with us in that effort.

Many of the affected players are graduates of our Junior Varsity program and we will be reaching out to them very shortly to get feedback in connection with Senior Varsity for 2018. Hopefully, we will be in a position to make an announcement next week as I know there is a lot of uncertainty out there at the moment.

The Gold PeeWee Championship, at 2pm, is a classic Cinderella tale as the Black team worked hard and earned their way into the title match. Black has improved on all the fundamentals but will their grit and solid play be enough to stop the impressive White team. White has an explosive offense and a rugged defense and the best special teams in the Peewee Division. Black is riding high showing determination and an all-around improved team. This is storied finish to the season.

These two teams have had great matches in the regular season and will excite the crowd again. Black has improved on all sides of the ball will try to shut down the electric aerial attack of white.

Then in the Gold championship at 1 pm. It will see the two best offenses rampage for the endzone. It will be the defense that will determine the game with big tackles, turnovers and coverage. Don’t miss the Gold team and the Grey team as this is must-see tyke football.
